Problem - In America, underfunded neighborhoods are a serious issue that should be front and center. Not only are these neighborhoods lacking basic food necessities, but they are also faced with an underfunded public education system which often leads to a lack of exposure to fine art and its rich history.

Approach - Pop Pantry is influenced by Andy Warhol’s commentary on consumerism to expose viewers to a piece of pop art history and spread awareness of the current food crisis  in American underserved communities. This exhibit is free to community members but will require admission and at least one canned good per entry. The proceeds and donations will be given to members of the neighborhood who are in need. This exhibit will expose the community to contemporary art that addresses the concept of consumerism and provides information to further help the cause,  such as a database of local food pantries where people can sign up to volunteer or donate. Pop Pantry would be placed in an underserved neighborhood allowing those to experience contemporary and local art inspired by Warhol’s concepts.
